Nurse, blogger, dog enthusiast, coffee hating (yep I said it), first-time mama to my sweet little girl.
Becoming a mom has been the most rewarding adventure I have ever embarked on. But let’s be honest here – being a mom is hard work!
For me the stress and worrying started before I was pregnant during that dreaded two week wait. All you Mamas out there know exactly what I am talking about, don’t you? Anyway, once I got that positive sign on my pregnancy test (who knew a stick covered in your own urine could be so important), I felt so relieved and hopeful that my stress could finally come to an end. Boy was I wrong! Being pregnant made my brain go into overdrive. I spent endless hours researching everything I could about pregnancy, labour, postpartum, breastfeeding, and raising a healthy baby.
Google became both my best friend and my worst enemy. I certainly did not have “the glow” everyone was referring too – unless the sweat dripping off my face after my millionth trip to the bathroom happened to hit the sun just right.
Anyway, there I was, 40 weeks and 3 days (not that I was counting) pregnant, bouncing on my exercise ball in my living room, completely fed up with this “beautiful” experience and my inability to find anyone who had a journey like my own. It was in that moment that The Labouring Mom came to fruition.
I decided that I wanted to share my real, unfiltered journey through motherhood as well as some tips and tricks I learned along the way. But then my water broke, and I had to put that on hold too. Read more about my labour story here – spoiler alert: it wasn’t smooth sailing either!
So, grab your mug – filled with whatever, I don’t judge – and let’s get through this thing called motherhood together.
